Momma's Day / Birthday Boy Hike....

Photography Exercise: Setting with Purpose

We went on a little hike to Celebrate....
Luke's 5th Birthday and Mother's Day.

Luke was thrilled to be celebrating his special day....
by bug hunting along the way.

It was wonderful to be together as a family,
just enjoying the great outdoors....

One of the best gifts this momma could ever have is to be with

her hubby and kiddo's with my camera in hand!

I took this opportunity to work on a photography exercise.

Shooting in a "Setting with Purpose."

I have a tendency to focus in on details. It was allot of fun to intentionally work on stepping back and taking in the bigger picture.

I love the perspective of how small our children look against the

big vast landscape.

It's precious to see how small Luke still looks ( even as a big boy 5 year old) standing next to his big strong daddy.

In observing and trying to capture the surroundings we where in (and not just the people), it really helped broaden the overall enjoyment of our walk.

As I view the images after the fact we are able to continue to enjoy the scenery and still be beckoned by the trails.

Makayla has taken a liking to photography as well and was adamant about taking at least one picture of mommy and daddy! Huh... I may get to be in some family pictures after all! I think she's got an artistic eye. I love how the trail is winding down below us and we are just off center.

This is my favorite of the bunch!
A Very Happy Momma's and Birthday Indeed!

Thanks Whitworth Elementary

I had the privilege of taking a few staff picture to celebrate the end of the 2009 school year for Whitworth Elementary. It is the start of allot of transition and new beginnings for many teachers and students as the school district is mixing things up and switching gears. K-3 will be redirected to attending at two other local schools, while 4-5th will remain at Whitworth. Makayla will be moving to Oakdale to start her 2nd grade year.

Thank you Whitworth Teachers and Staff

Best wishes to all of you in the year to come.

Growing Up!

It's so much fun to watch kids grow.

This set of siblings belongs to my close friend and old roommate Amber. It's hard to believe that this young man was just a wee infant when he attended our wedding some 13 years ago. Just look at him now with his beautiful sister and lovely Mama.

Brother and Sister

Hope your dad liked the surprise pictures of his Beautiful family

A WALK IN THE PARK

Meeting a family at the park on a nice day is one of my all time favorite photo shoots. You can't beat natural light and everyone seams a bit more playful and relaxed when they are out in fresh air. I take time to visit with mom and dad prior to our walk throught the park, so I have a feel for the images and setting they hope to capture. We usually take a few portrait style pictures for starters then take a bit of a walk together. I snap many candid shots as we go along. It's wonderful to come along a tree, river or even a open field of grass to grab a few more shots of kid's just being kid's and stage a few more portraits as well. Most parents are sure to buy some time and good behavior with the promise of play time at the park or perhaps an ice cream cone on the drive home when we're all finished. Every time I have had the privledge to walk and share time with a family, I feel blessed and more passionate about what I do. It's an honor to capture a family, it's children, it's parents... the spirit of each family is so unique and beautful!
